The Story By Jack London “Call Of The Wild”: Book Review

Call of the Wild tells the story of a dog who is forced from his home to adjust to the Klondike Gold Rush in Alaska Yukon. The story follows Buck, the main character, but it also demonstrates the historical qualities of that time. We follow the dog as he travels from civilization to madness in nature. This is how history looks from an inhuman perspective. This information will help us understand the historical significance and impact of the gold rush.

Buck arrives on the Alaska Territory with Perrault or Francois, and begins the job of police and mail-carrying. While moving from one place to another, they enjoy gazing at all manner of people. They don’t really know why they’re there. However, they do know that a yellow stone was discovered in the wild by man and many people have come to the area looking for it. They had to endure grueling tasks. Many dogs were forced to work long hours to fulfill their jobs. Their new master was ignorant and unexperienced. People came from all walks of life at that time, many never having seen snow or cold before, and were forced into new lives. Many would be killed by diseases, Indian attacks, camping raids, Indian raids, and grizzly deaths at bars and saloons for their money and bets.

Buck’s new owners are irresponsible and the team’s inept management leads to them taking him in. John Thornton takes him in. Shortly thereafter, his masters from the past are swept away by a river. Thornton is a muscular, Alaska-hardened man. Thornton is an experienced man who knows nature’s ways better than a few others. His plans and business practices show that people like he were more successful than others in the gold rush era.

The dogs fell to the ground as if they were all dead when they stopped. Mercedes closed her eyes and surveyed John Thornton. Charles laid down on a log for rest. Charles sat down slow and carefully, even though he was stiff. Hal was the one who spoke. John Thornton was finishing up the final touches to an axe-handle that he had made using a stick of Birch… the Call of the Wild…

The hardships of the period are clearly shown in the book. It also allows you to see the world from multiple perspectives. Unflinchingly displaying the harshness and beauty of Alaska’s wilderness as Buck moves on. Either death or a new life. They will often be able to give vivid examples of the different types of people they meet as well as how they fit into their difficult lives.
